There is no upper limit to the number of sessions, and this is something that we can discuss as the sessions progress.
Consistency is key, so I usually suggest a minimum of 4-6 weekly sessions as your first commitment. This allows for our therapeutic relationship to solidify and enables us to work on what you bring to session confidently.
If you are unable to attend a session, I would require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice, so that someone else has a chance to fill the slot. I understand that unexpected things do crop up, and that's OK. If less than 24 hours notice, I will try to offer you an alternative slot that same day or week.
I will let you know of any dates I’m planning on being away well in advance. There may be occasions when I cannot give you your session because of illness or a personal emergency. However, I will try to give you as much notice as possible and will try to offer you a different time.
Talking with a counsellor by video or phone can be really helpful if getting to in-person appointments is difficult. This could be because you live far away, have trouble getting around, or have a packed schedule that makes it hard to find time for face-to-face sessions.
Online counselling also gives you more convenience and flexibility, letting you connect with a therapist from the comfort of your own home. Studies have found that online therapy often works just as well as traditional in-person therapy, making it a good option for anyone looking for mental health support.
No. All you need is a safe space where you can't be overheard or interrupted and a stable WiFi connection. I will share a unique Zoom link to join (you do not require your own Zoom account) and you can join from a PC or mobile device (laptop, phone, tablet).
Do consider your own security on your devices, and use a personal computer or device rather than shared devices where others may have access to your electronic information, which might include family members, co-workers, tutors, supervisors, and friends.
Once I receive your enquiry form, I'll contact you via email to arrange an initial free-of-charge phone call (15-20 mins) for us to discuss what brought you to counselling and to answer any questions you have.
You'll learn about me and my approach, and I'll explain the therapy process and what would be the next steps if you feel comfortable working with me.
If you're happy to proceed, we'll book in your first counselling session together, send you the shared agreement, and then we can begin therapy.
